So the 461's are still available? I thought they were all gone. I know Bryan equipment is low on 462's and 661's, and we all know how few 500i's are around.
I didn’t think they were able to be ordered either. I was under the impression what’s in stock is it.

I thought you said they had to order you one?
The one he had in stock was listed as being sold, so he said he couldn't sell it to me, he said he would have to bring it from another store.

The store i was in on Friday in Columbus had 2. I bought it from the another location by my house

You’ll be happy with the 461. I consider it more an 80cc saw than 70. There’s a lot of power left in it that a knowledgeable porter can extract. It’s my favorite saw along with the 261.

You done good.

Ok, that makes sense, lots of 461 still on dealer shelves, even my dealer has one.[emoji111]

The shop I usually get parts from only had 462/500's. Rural king had a 661, but pissed me off over a tax exempt purchase/ return/exchange so I quit shopping there. Deere dealers were the first 461's I have seen since i had been looking at saws again.

Good to hear

Start looking for a coil from a 460 or 660 now while you wait. The 461’s have a limited coil. Get the dual port muffler cover too. But if you do that, you need to pull the limiters, trim the stops with an exacto and reinstall.

May I ask why you passed on the 500i?
I honestly had been looking for a 500i but then started looking at 661's after seeing the 660s used . I looked at the 500 when I got the 461 and decided if I came home with some cash, It would be good, which isn't like me.

Understand. But "and this is not to say you made the wrong choice" if you want the 461 running like a 500i, that's going to take some time, parts and some money. The 500i could be left stock, or just a simple muffler mod.

This is just my thinking, I'm sure you will enjoy the saw.[emoji111]

Well I decided on the 661, went back to the dealer and they were out of 462/661's still so i asked about the 461 they had and he said it was listed as sold when he looked it up. He said he could order a 461 and for the inconvenience, knock off a little off the top. So i ended up with what I thought was a good deal on the saw you all said not to buy , but i plan on sending it in for a port job after I get some runtime with it or i will buy a 661 after I sell 2 other saws and some other crap

Make sure you come back to tell everyone how light it is.

If you get an itch for a 500i, you'll be able to buy a new one for the next several years. You can't say that about a 461. The 461 is a totally proven platform, and I think it makes a better compliment to a 361 than either a 462 or 661 would have for your application. Plus, it's old school, no computer to play tricks on you. A ported one will really be a treat. If you want to cut big stumps all day, you'll eventually want a more powerful saw than a ported 461. Otherwise, for firewood and felling duty, it'll be more than sufficient. I'll vouch for Kevin, (huskihl) also. I've done business with him and was not disappointed.

A lot of folks aint going to like this, but why buy a smaller saw, spend big bucks having it ported so it will run almost as good as the larger saw? There is no way to beat big CCs and stock parts can be installed by anyone. I know of no loggers around here that use ported saws.
