I have an 034S that engages the clutch at too low a speed. The saw had been abused and the clutch metal shows significant signs of heating. Because of this I am assuming that at least the springs are shot. I haven't pulled it off the saw yet to look for further damage. Am I likely to find any?
This is the clutch version before the anti-grenade washer was added. Based on several different IPLs there appears to be 2 different spring part numbers...

The Bryan or Stihl Northeast catalogs lists neither so I don't know which (if either) is still available.
Do any of you know the difference or which is intended for which clutch version? At first it would appear that the 0909 was good only on the non-grenade clutch. However, it appears that it is also used on MS290/390 with the grenade washer. So based on this it may be dependent on matching with a particular clutch shoe and not the carrier. Can anyone shed some light on this or have the Stihl Tech Note that explains the difference? All of this is early 90s so pre-MediaCat.
