I catch crap for this every time but I use amsoil saber at 80:1 and e free Sunoco gas. Been running since 2016 haven’t had a failure yet. Plus it has a built in stabilizer so I never really worry about how long it’s in the can. Buy all means you can run it at 50:1 also but it’s rated at 100:1 I just don’t have the balls to run it there. All my saws have very minimal carbon build up and cranks have not been an issues at all. Only saws I do t run at this mix is my ported 395. It would probably be fine but just going off the builders recommendations I have not run it at this ratio.

We run 93 non-ethanol and Echo Red Armor. This combo fixed our 2 stroke issues years ago. All of our saws sat for 6 months because of a health issue, got them all out the other day and they all fired right up on the old gas.

Here's a link to will help find non-ethanol gas in the US and Canada.

If you can get non E gas by all means mix your own. I mix 40:1 and after 6 weeks if it's not gone it goes in the lawn mower
DITTO. I tell my customers/friends to figure a gallon of gas is good for 30 days, than it belongs in a larger engine. I promote Sta-bil and its purpose.

Canned fuel is 2020's snake-oil. Convenience will never replace proper fuel quality or ratio. Don't get me started on packaging...........

I also mix top-quality synthetic 2-stroke oil with premuim/non-E fuel.....there are dozens of sites with maps showing where these gas stations are in relation to you....Sunoco 260, Citgo Race, etc.

I like 40:1 because its a center balance on rpm/displacement. The engine will either smoke, or scream!

Can you use a fuel stabiil in it for it to last longer
No such thing...given the cost of Sta-bil. You would be spending more money for the Sta-bil, plus the premium fuel, + the premium oil.........
Thats not cost effective for a woodsman. If you are a homeowner, tha you'll never go thru a gallon of fuel anyway.

I drive about 40 minutes to get 90 E free. I get 15 gallons in 3 METAL cans. Soon as I get home I put Stabil in them. Supposed to keep it good for 24 months but I have never kept it that long. I use it in my mower and all my small engines. When I need mixed fuel, I measure out 1 gallon in a measuring pitcher and add my oil to make 40:1. I also add 1oz of seafoam to the mix. I use it until it's gone. I just used some in a chainsaw that had been mixed for about 8 months. It ran perfectly just like always.
This should be in the manual!!

Do yall mix your own or buy premixed fuel
If you mix your own how long is it good for
I mix my own. Amsoil 80:1 I buy premix 40:1 for customer saws. So I am not responsible for what happens if they use the wrong mix. I use regular 87 octane farm gas in everything on the farm including my saws and my boat. It's 10% ethanol but never causes a problem. Most high end oils will prevent the alcohol from corroding or gumming up. I can remember when we all carried a little bottle of methyl hydrate to absorb water in the tank before they started adding it. It rains all fall winter and spring here. All you needed was a few drops dripping off your hardhat into the tank and shutting you down for the day. I have had saws sit over a year and still run good. Most mix oils come with fuel stabilizer added.

I live in a high humidity environment. I have a source of non-ethanol 93 octane fuel in town which is 25 miles away but I'm there almost every day so it's not a problem to grab a gallon when I'm there. I don't go through that much fuel so I have four metal Tru-fuel quart cans that I saved and when I'm running low I'll buy a gallon of the 93 non-E and mix it with Stihl synthetic oil. I immediately pour it into the metal Tru-fuel cans and they'll stay sealed until I need them. They might sit for a few months but I've never had a problem doing it that way. After using any 2 stroke equipment I also pour any unused fuel back into the can and run the carb dry. By using the Non-ethanol fuel and running the carbs dry I've eliminated the problems I used to have with bad fuel.

Ethanol (alcohol) is an emulsifier witch allows for water to mix with the gas. Without alcohol water will not mix with gas. It will separate and settle at the bottom. But with alcohol it will mix and blend with the gas. There in lies the problem with ethanol fuels. It does help if you can keep a can or tank full and sealed very tight to keep moist air from going in and out of the can or tank as it expands and contracts with temperature changes. Keep your cans full and sealed tight for best results with any fuel.

I can get non ethanol fuel i just didn't know how long it keep for
I have had two stroke fuel work just fine for over 6 months. I would not be worried about how long it would keep for. If it does not work anymore, chuck it out and get a new mix. No harm in trying.

I had always heard the metal cans were worse with temperature change and condensation. In the humid air here gas starts sucking up water quick, especially if the can sits in the back of your truck overnight.
During firewood season I’ll run non e pump gas with red armor but I switch to canned in the off season and it’s completely stopped carb issues from storage. Well worth it knowing it’ll start right up whenever I need it. I’m still looking for a close by non ethanol station, that website only has them in south Jersey.

Do yall mix your own or buy premixed fuel
If you mix your own how long is it good for
Typically all new chainsaws are tuned at the factory with premixed bottled fuel. That is why, at times, customers will buy chainsaws at a big box store, take it home, pre-mix their own fuel and the saw simply won't run properly. It's best to buy pre-mix for initial operation of all new 2 cycle engines. After a bottle or 2 then go over to your own premixed fuel. It, the carburetor, may have to be retuned as well for that fuel.
