Farmertech 372xp wont hold a tune

I have a husqy 440 I got with cash back on something from lowes. I haul it on my atv all the time. Cuts great. Perfect for an atv/fence line/tree in the path saw. Light too. After that I bought a 142 for next to nothing for dad to keep on his.

My other saws are a 357xp/ 550xp/ several 372 xp/ 266/and 3120 xp / 440 and 660 stihl/ and a few other cheaper stihls I don't recall the numbers on. The 440 Husqy is none of those that's for certain. But it's been great and perfect for the atv.

Yea that's cool it's like brand new and I too keep a couple saws on the atv when we go riding amd really just anytime I leave my yard with it. I used to keep my 025 then the ms250 same saw basically and now I might use the 440. It's super clean brand new bar amd chain i noticed it runs a bit rich but havent really played with it much yet

Yea I've not yet been able to afford a mill and also am not sure what mill to buy exactly so if you have experience which it seems as if you do I'm all ears man I appreciate the advice. I originally built the 660 just for fun I do cut alot of firewood and some felling and so on but I do want to get a mill for the saw and be able t0 mill some lumber. I'm sure not on a huge scale but idk just another hobbie that yields material for other hobbies

Id say the difference between this one:

And the others, is that the cross beam piece is machined aluminum instead of molded aluminum. And it makes it very accurate.
Basically that means that with molded cross beams you may force the guide bar in to an "s" shape if it has both root and tip attachments - they dont really align at the clamp surface. Just imagine each clamp surface (root and tip) has a +5 degree clamp angle instead of a 0 degree angle. At 0 degrees they would match.

Also the one in the picture have steel balls (bearing balls) attached at the end of the clamp bolts on the bottom, and a clamp surface at the top.
This actually makes the clamp bolts to groove in to your guide bar and secure it in place - not just clamp it. No matter how hard, it will do so on a Cannon bar as well.
I would not want it any other way on a "one attachment" mill (root attachment only), Id like my body not to be cut in two if something would slip.

The "other ones" just have a clamp surface both at top and bottom of the bar, both kinds will guide your chainsaw to mill your timber however.
The 660/661 is the preferred machine for the Logosol mill (pro farmer stuff) over at my side of the pond (or up north), overpowered for the timber we have it is perfect.

Use a solid machined bar - like the Cannon, it dont need to be Cannon though. Those are really thick, really heavy and really stiff bars.
The Stihl mill chain is full chiesel at .050, it lasts many (not one or two - many) 13 feet lenghts of timber (5-6 cuts each lenght of timber).
The chain I have used now needs sharpening every 13 feet (5-6 cuts), so its worth it - yes it is.

I'm happy to report that my 372 clone is now running fine with a zama carb and oem tank vent sorta modified to fit on it. But now I've recieved a couple other project saws and I have a couple questions. I recieved a stihl 036 needs top end no biggy amd also a 2016 372 xp x torq and it needs basically everything from the crank up. The lower rod bearing came aprt and destroyed everything just about. My question is will a regular 372 non x torq crank fit the x torq?

Yes sir I'd like to revive the 036 and run it as I've never owned one yet. I've had 026 s and 038 av super and currently have an 038 magnum but never have had or ran an 036. Not 100 percent sure why the 036 blew up as the crank case holds good pressure and vacuum. The only thing I found was a rotted fuel line but typically that'll cause issues running before it blows up but who knows it was and is filthy. I'll post some pics. Of both the 036 and 372. I have them torn down currently.

Scratchbrite pads. Some guys use acid but it can cause plating to flake off.

Farmer tech crank in which one? The new oem 372 x torq? Yea I thought about it. I need a crank,bearings,seals amd a complete top end for it. Also a chain cover and recoil to make that a complete power head. Also a kill switch. I've never ran an x torq 372 I hear good and bad from people. Good I have heard is awesome power,bad I've heard is plastic caged bearings, prone to fail this and that idk

Think cranks are only like $30 to $40 or they used to be anyway. I have had good luck with the cylinders for the TS350/08s from there rebuilt 3 TS350 with new cylinders that are currently being used as rental saws.

Can swap em out for 6202 C3 bearings from a bearing supply house. A good quality Nachi or FAG etc bearing with metal cage would do the trick.

Not sure I would be that excited about an 036- they cut wood, so qualify.
But it looks like your "new" example has been messed with already- might just be the photos- but the case halves look to be a different age mix matched set, new (AM?) flywheel side on an old PTO case half.

6202 C3's or 6203 C3's?

Afaia the 372's take 6202 C3 bearings (that's what I have in mine). I would assume the x-torq saws take those bearings too.
