My oldest (son) turned 18 today. It is kind of a relief we got him to 18 (he definitely had his "teenage years") and I feel a bit older knowing I have an adult child.

SVK. Crying in your beer today is appropo. Crying about having an 18 YO, Crying becasue you have mmore that aren't

I’ll catch up on the post’s tonight

Until then, I’ll say…. This is the best business trip I’ve been on so far 🤣View attachment 1067053View attachment 1067052View attachment 1067051View attachment 1067050
For the sake of your Man Card, you need to be working harder to put a smile on her face. And hunting up some sunscreen for the tops of your feet. Thank me later.
Enjoy your trip!

PS are any your beautiful wife's sisters single?...My dowry includes a Model 71 plus a bonus .35 Whelen built on a springfield action.
I'm thinking you're going to have to sweeten the deal with some necked down grease guns and some Ziggy Bears around this crowd. Though a care package with some Aloe Vera Gel sent to Matt's house for when he gets home willl demonstrate thoughtfullness.

Since you asked, I have three sisters and 9 ex BIL's, so, whatcha wanna offer me?

It was but the 6.4 wasn't far behind. I traded mine on a gasser. I asked my Ford guy if they would fix it and resell it. Nope, going straight to the auto auction.
I Looked at some cheaper Ford trucks but when I looked them up they had issues. The 03 Mercury Grand Marquis I inherited from my Father was a good running car. But I stayed away from the trucks.
Anybody who missed the last two weeks of content here is going to be totally lost....greased, necked, sized, and zigzagged. LOLOL
I missed 6 pages overnight.

Bob is a great guy. He and I kind of had a rocky start on here but became friends after many good discussions. I miss his presence here, but I realize people get busy with life. I enjoyed his very direct, factual, and occasionally salty replies.
He even held a couple of GTGs back in the day, but they got to be too much work.

I agree he is a real good guy. Always liked to see and talk with him at several GTGs.

So the nightmare is over. I had looked for a new Chevy or GMC 3500 regular cab WT. One dealer had them but would only sell to commercial:mad:. The Local Chevy truck dealer finally told us that 2023 orders were done and we had to wait for the 2024 orders. They call back and say the manager would not order it because they had a customer waiting over 18 months on an order. The only trucks they had were 1500 crew cabs. Finally a Local GMC dealer emailed and told us we could build a 2024. As we were doing the build we Selected Quick Silver for a color I see a 2500 double cab with the 6.6 gas engine go by the window. The manager came over and asked if we wanted to test drive it. We did and it had lots of options. It had heated seats my wife wanted and the towing that I wanted. We were looking at a 8 to12 month wait on a special order so we bought it. I ordered the back rack so I would not take out the rear window chucking wood in and they gave us the Linex spray in bed Liner. Turns out the truck was a custom order that was not picked up.

Just about a gallon . Had about a half pint left in the pot and just poured it into the opened jar in the fridge . I’m done even though I have about 45 gallons of sap left to boil . I’m going to give it to my neighbor and let him use it for his production View attachment 1067114
45 gal sap will make about 2 gal syrup? That's pretty generous. Wish I lived closer (lol).

I know he wasn’t a big fan of all the **** measuring that came with some of the ported saw polishing boys. He said they took the fun out of an otherwise very enjoyable experience.

Yeah, and some guys don't want a front tensioner ;).
If I was milling, I might get a 395, other than that or resale, I see no reason to own one for my needs.
I know from my own experience that when cutting a 30 - 36 inch Oak or Ash tree using my 372XPOE saw with a 24 inch bar versus a 395XP with a 36 inch bar using the same type full chisel chain that there is a complete world of difference between the two saws. I'll take the 395XP over the 372XP any day. I don't have a saw between these two in size. That 395XP that I use sometimes is moving on. That is why I bought the 394XP yesterday.

Average 40:1 depending on the % of sugar content. I’ve had 25:1 at times I haven’t checked the last batch of sap but it was averaging 3.% so he may get a little over a gallon

But he does on average 500 gallons of syrup he sells it

Ain't that the truth!
Last night I had a stupid dream about big brown bears and under sized guns ......

Sure wish I'd had my new US made lever action grease gun.... I'd'a neck sized that sucker!!!!

Mighty brave talk for a guy that hasn't tested out that grease gun on a bear yet.
