Does anyone know whether or not an 038 Mag Piston and Cylinder will swap to an 029 Super, and is the bottom end strong enough to handle more power and rpm's? The stock 029 cylinder has been ported for more flow through the engine. The timing wasn't altered and the muffler was modded, stock carb has been fattened up to accommodate. It's just my firewood saw swingin' an RS chain on a Power Match 18" bar.
Thanks for any info.

Versus reerring you to chainsaw forum, nit ti will not work nor be feasible. The 029 is an clamshell design (aka the tank assembly is not a part of the crankcase), whereas the 038 is.

for your application you would want to look at an 039, as it will be a direct swap as both are clamshell designs.

Thanks for the advice, 'Hamish'. This is the first Stihl product I have owned. I also run a 395XP, 371XP, and a 346XP. Wish I could find another 371, or very early 372, to modify and fool around with.
