I am having the same problem even though I have taken my saw to 2 shops, one Stihl Dealer and the other not.

The carb has been re-built, new plug, points adjusted same problem.

Latest shop says I need a coil

Problem: saw states fine, runs & cuts for a couple of minutes and it states sputtering, take saw away from cut for a while, RPM's return, cut awhile, samething happens again.

Stihl no longer makes the coil

I found a new one on Ebay - Not a Stihl unit, Bosch # 2 204 222 098 - will this work?

Is the coil the likely problem?

I had the same problem with an 031 av. It would crank up and run fine until it got hot. I rebuilt the carb, new impulse line, adjusted the points and it still did the same thing. I pulled the jug and everything looked brand new inside. That wasnt enough for me. After pondering around I decided to put seals in it. Which splitting the crankcase on the saws is very aggravating. After a few hours of labor and patience, I got the seals in. Ran like a new one

I think what I really need is a copy of the service manual to see if my problem is covered, then proceed with the recommendations listed.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the 032 AV service manual?

Buy a inline spark tester. Then run the saw and watch the spark. If its an ignition problem you will see the spark cutting out when the saw acts up. If the spark stays when it acts up then its another problem.:msp_unsure:

Google inline spak tester if you want online. I got one from a good quality auto parts store. I think Lisle is the brand. Comes in handy for any type of engine with spark trouble.:smile2:
