Were all Stihl 066 Magnum crankshafts the large hub version? I need to buy a good used one but I want to be sure.

No, the early 066 used an aluminum flywheel and the same crank as the 064. When the 066 was switched over to the polymer flywheel in 1996, the crankshaft was redesigned. The serial number cut off is *33917066. The flywheel nut on the old cranks is M8 and the new one is M10.

Thanks for the info ! So a "small hub " is prior to serial # 33917066, and a "large hub" is after ? My saw has the poly flywheel.

I think there are three different 066 cranks. I believe they put a larger big end rod bearing in them before switching to the poly flywheel. Once they went to the poly flywheel, I don't think they've changed. Someone correct me where I'm wrong.
