61 Rancher to 266xp conversion

I bought a nice used 266xp jug /carb/filter setup from Ebay. I was wondering if this is a straight bolt-on conversion. Or have I got myself in to another tangle!

All the same family. The new 61 changed body style maybe mid 90's. not sure if those ones fit but the Rancher was older I believe. A different colour cap?

Yes, it has a white top. Everything is a direct bolt on. worked perfectly except for the top. Had to cut out around for the air filter. Luckily for me I had a broken up one I could practice on. I will modify my nice one and post pics when it is done.

@Cantdog should know. I can't remember if the grey top bolt pattern is the same or not

Hi Dave,
I think the white top 61 is the older style top cover, so the 266 top cover should fit it and should give more room for the taller 266 cylinder.

Update. All I had to do was use the original 1 screw filter and intake. Doesn't seem to affect performance a bit and the cover fits perfectly.
