1985 chevy K30 with a 454 and turbo 400 205 and dana 60 front axle with 4.56 gears I paided 700.00 for that baby

I'm curious...was the load from shorts and limbs? I thought sugar pine was an extremely valuable timber species, even yet! Most of those rounds would have had pretty nice lumber in them in decent lengths.

When I was a kid, we went to visit relatives on the west coast. In Northern California, we saw a logs on trucks ...one end of the log was chained down to a rack on the back of a semi-tractor, and the other end was chained to a dolly...no trailer. I asked what kind of trees they were hauling, and my cousins said they were hauling big sugar pine...maybe the last of the big ones in that vicinity. One log was a load!

Im in northern california This tree was dead with some rot in the but so we started cutting rounds about 35 feet up the tree and that is what you see in the truck

From the picture I assume they must not use salt in Northern CA.

Bill

No salt Remember solid rust free california cars all over ebay By the looks of it 99% of all cars were sold in california HAHAHAHAHA

Very nice. One of my toys is a '78 K20 4x4, 6" suspension lift, 36" mudders, 4.10's, posi in the rear. Weiand intake, Edelbrock 600cfm carb, Hooker headers, and Flowmaster mufflers on a tired 350. It moves out ok(for a 5,400lb truck with the aerodynamics of a brick), but put a load behind it and it's not happy. Burns/leaks about three quarts of oil a week. I probably won't be rebuilding it, probably sell it before it dies for good. Just not interested in dumping that kinda $$ into a gas truck. On the other hand, my g/f likes it, soooo........

Well. let me know if you sell it. I'm in dire need of something for hauling. Probably that would be more fun to work on than my regular stuff.

That is one sweet deal! :)

Know what you mean about salt. I made the mistake of buying a van out of Boston.

It's now dead - rusted brake lines, quoted $2k to fix it. Not worth it. Looking for new van.
