Now I'm not saying that a 311 is a better saw than a 2165, it probably isn't...but the 311 still has a closed port motor...fwiw.

The cheaper saw that will really go through a felled log is a McCulloch Pro Mac 610. I can usually pick them up for 25 dollars or so and they really do the job.
