Can you i.d this wood please

I went out for a trailer load of wood this morn and came accross this, the piece pictured next to my saw weighs 66 pound, and brother it was hard to split any ideas of what it is ???

That's kind of what my first thoughts were, especially when i saw the grain.

I cut a load of Locust today. Its not Locust and it does not look like Boxelder that I have seen here. As for Apple or Beech I have no knowledge of those.

That is what I was thinking too, so considering the location maybe European Beech...
