a couple of pix of the cast iron fry pans n pot i found stashed in my 1940's bunkhouse up at my ranch. i did some cleaning with a rotary wire wheel, then noticed i had a couple in main house already cleaned. cooking ready. so not too much of an issue, the rusty ones.

I have been moving towards cast iron cook wear for some time now. After hearing about PFOA (aka C8) it is the prudent step. I'm probably already fully infected, but cast iron has other advantages.

i have quite the cast iron collection. not so much by plan... but more so happenstance. one lot of cast iron dutch ovens, fry pans and pots all headed to the dump. i saw the family loading the p/c and inquired? sure, they said... and i went and got my wheelbarrow. i scrounged up some cast iron this summer at the Super Scrounge house i spent a week in gathering... cooked on one of my scrounged gas grills other day. i had restored it, then let it sit. decided to return it to service. made some bacon then did a campfire outside brunch. eggs, etc. prob was the lil grill got too hot even on Low. but not i better know how to manage the heat. eggs over ez went just fine. not over cooked. one the meat and spuds warmed back up, set to side then put on the eggs... then turned grill off and cooked eggs as it cooled down!. went well...

cooked outside, cast iron griddle... brunched outside, side by campfire....3 days ago
.griddle is part of 4 grates all from old vintage gas stove. a collector took the stove, dint want the grates!

My big break thru was in saving my bacon grease. Years ago, I had purchased at a flea market a small 6" fry pan that has been absolutely wonderful once I learned about greasing the pan with the bacon grease. My current 10", 8" are now my go to pans along with my 6".
that griddle has a grease pot at one end. a lower area, sides to catch the grease. the bacon done to golden brown makes a lot if grease. i mop it up accordingly with a P towel or two. toss them into mr Brutus, outdoors fireplace... and makes a swell fire starter add-on! lol

What make are they? Dose it say on the bottom of the pot and pans?

I wanted to ask about titanium pots / titanium coating? / They are not cheap, over $200 and I bought it for $10

Hmmm, well, you could polish it to be VERY shiny. But titanium doesn't conduct heat very well, so I'm not 100% sure why it would be good for cooking.

And its normally expensive...but for $10? Can't go wrong.

I am not familiar with that product, but am aware of 2, high end cookware lines that use titanium.

Hestan Culinary ’sputters’ a thin layer of titanium on the cooking surface of its clad (layered) ‘nanobond’ cookware.

https://hestanculinary.com/

Heritage Steel includes titanium in the stainless steel alloy they use for the top layer of their higher series clad cookware.

Both are induction compatible, because the titat only in the top layer; the bottom layers are magnetic stainless steel (18/0).

It seems no matter what I do I cannot get the iron smell/taste out of a newer Lodge 10 inch I have. I am at my wits end.

Well I just want to get rid of the issues I have with newer stuff. I may end up with all my grandparents cookware from the 1800's and need to learn a bit
