In the HBO show "True Blood" Jason Stackhouse saws a dang bar in two with what looks like a Stihl farmboss. (liquor bar):)

I almost forgot, I was watching CMT the other night and caught the pilot episode of "The Dukes of Hazard " and Luke Duke looks to have what may have been some sort of Big Mac chainsaw. I know it was yellow. Id bet it was a super mac.:computer:

Its a Stihl

Its definitely a stihl 034 or 036 used in the movie.
I'm always going back and forth on which it is.
I'm about 99% positive its the 034 though.

The only two things I notice different between them are the pattern of the holes in the recoil housing and the shape of the top of the air filter cover. The 034 recoil housing has a rounder shape to the pattern and the filter cover slants down on the top just slightly.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest:D

Just watched this the other day. I always liked this scene from christmas vacation.
Fixed the newel post!

Just found this. Its supposed to be the first ever use of a chainsaw as a weapon in film. Dark of The Sun 1968. The saw changes from what looks like a mac 10-10 to a 1-40 or 1-50 from shot to shot.

And this I just stumbled across. The most impressive chainsaw fight scene I think I have ever seen. From some asian action movie. The saws switch back and forth from dolmars to echos.

Big STIHL chainsaws play a supporting role in the trailers for "Big Miracle" - due out in February, 2012

Just finished watching my Packers demolish da Bears, when across my muted screen (I always mute the commercials unless something looks good) comes a logging scene in a Snickers candy bar ad. Being of course interested and hopeful for saw ####, I unmute it and there's a guy with an older muscle saw. It happened too fast, and my knowledge of those saws is so limited, that I could not ID it. Then it fades to Roseanne Barr with a Stihl, and a big ole moving stick suspended off a cable takes her out. I laughed like hell!

Also was too fast for me to ID the Stihl.

Think that's one I gotsta look up on YouTube. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Hmmm, doesn't actually look like a Stihl in her hands. But any ad where that $*#*& gets taken out has to be a good one. :D :D :D

Really like that commercial. The guy is Richard Lewis.

Philbert

Yeah, I remembered the comedian's name after I posted it. Very funny guy. Wish they'd have ended the commercial with him LHAO at RB. :D :D :D

I'm curious about which saws were pictured. Almost looks like Husky orange on the saw Lewis is sporting, but that bar is wicked cool. Upon further review, no clue which brand saw RB was holding.

The one he has is an older Homelite.
The fuel tank on the front looks a LOT like my Super 1050.
Wonder why he is holding the saw by the chainbrake???

Hello Mike,

I hope all is well in the east.

It is a mixmatch of Homelite and non Homelite parts. The tank appears blue so that would be from a C series. The rest of the body of it very well maybe a 1050 or any of that style XP 1000, etc. The supposed chainbrake handle is something added from gosh only knows what saw:laugh:

Bill

But what's the goldurned bar?

That's just a big ol hardtip bar that came on most of those large mount Homelites. I also agree on the 1050 guess. The chainbrake sure was wierd and was probably for the "appearance" of saftey. I never saw a brake on any saw from that generation. The earliest homies with brakes that I saw were the 360's and 410's.
