cord picture

Here's the mental picture to give you the size:

an even stack of sheets of plywood (or sheetrock, or paneling) that is 4 feet high. Yeah, yeah, I know sheetrock can be 4x12, but you get the idea.

Well i dont know if this will help but I'm always willing to help a brother out.

of corse they arer legal cords because you can see they both still have their blue ul listing tags still attached which is required by law for use in any osha approved jobsite.

We should all have it so tough. Said it before but you do seem to cut some nice wood.

welcome back John. How have you been? You going to the GTG in Mi next weekend? Give me a call sometime.

Take care

i went out to the farm today, but its still a little warm for my liking to fire up the saws, so i just changed the oil in the tractor ready for after thanksgiving. its been 5 years since the cut on our lot on the oak ridges, so hope to get in there this fall before the govn't puts a ban on cutting trees too.

Full cord vs. face cord

Is that pretty much what everyone talks about in here when they say cord??? Do they mean a full cord??? 4X4X8??? A stove/face cord is 16"x8'x4', that's what I'm used to talking about. Sooooo, I guess I'd better get on track if that's what everyone means when they talk about a cord...

Well, it depends. To be correct you should always specify if you are talking about a measure other than the 128cu ft cord (4x4x8). That is the only legal definition you will find. All the others (face cord, rick, pile, load) etc. vary by locality and, in those states that regulate wood sales, are illegal. Of course even where regulated it is rarely enforced unless a customer complains to the authorities.
