Hello again all, Just got the husky progressive depth gages we talked about And am pretty disappointed. Maybe they gave me a bad batch or The laser cut the metal incorrect but Is both the .325 And 3/8 don't lineup or fit correct on the Drive link on my standard .50 3/8 stihl chain. I tried multiple ways to lineup the raker in the slot . The raker winds up too far to the left Or the right Or sits Too far up on the gauge for The correct Part of the gauge To sit on the actual sawtooth. Maybe it's not lining up because I'm testing it on a new chain. Maybe it will fit in the slot better when the chain is a bit worn I don't know. Or maybe just need a different progressive depth gauge . I love the idea of the progressive gauge. Any suggestions or ideas helpful thank you.

I find it hard to believe that the husky depth gauge was chain specific but could be Or again maybe the chain needs to be worn in for it to work

Also if possible I heard people on here talking about filing filing the depth gauge a bit to modify it so it will fit correctly on the chain and the raker can it be done is it safe or will it throw everything into whack and cause some bad kickback in my face

Again, some tools are chain specific. Some are general.

Because Oregon used to make all of Husqvarna’s sawchain, some things are compatible between certain models of those two brands.

STIHL does sell a version of these type of depth gauge tools, *** but not in the United States***. More information in the thread below.

I have used the husqy .325 Guage with stihl and Oregon chain with no issues. Literally just used it on my dad's 026 sporting stihl rs chain. Few pics of how your using it may be helpful to identify what may be wrong.

I like that. Good idea. I will send pic. Also wondering if maybe I can file part of the plate away, like widen the gap where the plate should rest on the Drive link, right behind the next sawtooth on the chain

Its a tool, and a pretty basic one at that. Opening up the groove so it slides over the bumper links and rests on the rivet should be pretty easy and straightforward. Won't really damage the tool and will let you get your work done. Just have to make sure you don't take too much out to effect it resting on narrower chains is all. Little bit at a time.

Hi again all, hopefully this helps someone out in the future if they're unsure if the standard husky gauge works for their chain. The pics are of the husky non roller, progressive depth gauge. They didn't fit my stihl .325 type c standard chain so I filed them to fit. I think they're OK everything lines up good with the raker coming up in the middle of the window and the bottom of the tail on the little window in back is laying on the Drive link in front of the raker. I went as wide as I saw fit so I wouldn't have a problem with the back tail piece laying flush on the Drive link. Hopefully this is not an issue. I'm assuming as long as I don't alter anything front to back, and just filed the sides, It will work as intended. Please let me know if there's a problem seen with this. In one pic you can see the the gauge sitting on the tip of the sawtooth, and the tail end cut out sitting on the Drive link and the raker peaking through the middle of the window. I have to think this is the correct way. Comments, thoughts please. / also I'm confused, the other gauge I got just for when the chain is newer, the Oregon standard .25 drop depth gauge that you lay across 2 sawteeth and the raker pops through the window to be filed, is it a universal gauge for diff. Size chains, or are they chain / size specific? Thank you
