Echo CS440EVL Information Needed

I just had a pristine CS440EVL given to me, it's a 1983 model year. It runs great I was going to check it with my tach but only find its operating RPM listed as 9000. Is that as fast as this thing turns? It is a well made saw with good fit and finish. The air filtration looks weak and it's heavy for its displacement but will make a great loaner saw. Any input will be appreciated
