SAM_0754.JPG SAM_0749.JPG My dad's very first saw was a Stihl 024 which he eventually traded off. But always regretted it so that got me looking for a 024 project that I could put together for him for father's day. Well this is what I came up with from my $46 box of parts ebay find. It was complete minus the tank which I got thanks to BWS-LLC. I replaced the fuel line/filter, impulse line, rebuilt the carb and refurbished the bar. He liked it so much he's afraid to get it dirty.

Good job on the restoration. Use a black Sharpie to touch up the Stihl letters.

Not sure why you painted the bar. The older bars with paint rubbed off add character. I just make sure they are well dressed with outside burrs removed.

These 024 AV saws are classics. It's a shame the carb air filters are being scalped by crooks for cash. The crooks know that without them, you can't even start the saw because the air filter controls the carb choke.
