To correctly set electronic ignition you need a timing light and a degree wheel.
Put the new ignition module in place and centre it in the middle of the two bolt holes (not too advance or retarded).
Fit the flywheel back on and with a degree wheel, mark TDC on the flywheel and case.
Then mark 26 degrees BTDC on just the case.
The 08’s ignition timing is 2.5 to 2.6 mm before TDC. This is 26 degrees BTDC if you don’t have a dial gauge.
Start the saw and remove the recoil cover, hold the timing light and mark on the case where the mark on the flywheel making aligns. Then bring engine speed to 6000 rpm and see if the ignition module has advance. You may wish to do this in a dark area to see it clearly.
Get the degree wheel back out and see where it’s firing relative to where it should (26BTDC at idle). Adjust the position of the module and repeat until the TDC mark you put on the flywheel aligns with the 26 degree mark you put on the case at idle
Use a tippex or white pain for all markings.
Hope this helps!
