What are they like? I am asking this because I'd like to get a bigger saw for myself but I like old stuff and it's cheaper. At 6'3" AND 240LBS, I don't have much problem handling weight of saws either. So, how would power, RPM, and weight actually compare to newer stuff of the same cc range? Thanks, Phillip

Here are the specs on a Husqvarna 372XP.

The weight of the Husky is not listed but the dealer info says 6.1kg=13.4 lbs.

So in a modern saw the rpms are 12,500, and the C-51 is 6,000 and weighs 18lbs. The C-51 has a MANUAL OILER and the new ones are automatic. This info is based on the info from acresinternet. The Homelite has a die cast magnesium case which some appreciate more than the plastic and magnesium cases of the modern saw.

Concerns with the C-51 would be the crank seals, and fuel lines, maybe a carb kit which is not a big deal.

For a non professional weight and reliability are not as big a concern as that of a professional, so you may have a valid reason to purchase it. However finding parts other than carb, bar, chain, bearings may be difficult, so another post addressing that question may be in order. If you cannot locate a clutch or drive sprocket you will be if a difficult position. It was last produced in '67, which makes it close to or 40+ years old.
