what kind of fluid you run in your splitter, mine works from 25c to -15 , using dextron now, seems ok what do you think.

when i built mine--i used regular tractor hyd fluid--the almost clear stuff--been in there 30 yrs-----

Nope, it does get dirty, bout every three years it's good to change, depending on usage. My point was it's reasonably priced, easy to get, and has worked well, why fix whats not broken?

dexron makes a fine hydraulic oil. You may want to change it every few years though. The warming and cooling will introduce a small amount of moisture after a while and that isn't good for any hydraulic system.
