I'm changing the hydraulic oil in my 25 ton Speedco log splitter and saw this at Menards, $43 for 5 gallons. Is this a good deal and is it any good?
Thanks, it appears to meet the specifications which are simply stated as AW-46. Since Sam's is also classified as RO I can't see any reason to not use it. Glad to hear you've had good success with it.I run the Sams club universal hyd oil in everything on my farm from skid loaders to tractors to wood splitters. Seems to be good oil. I bought some the other day and it had went from thirty nine to forty three for five gallons. I haven't priced oil in years any were else so I don't know if the price is good or not but twenty plus years ago when I stated using its price point was good on it.
Wow you're not kidding, at $95 for 5 gallons. That's what I paid for 10 gallons of Sam's Club hydraulic oil. It's listed as AW-46 R&O hydraulic oil.I use Shell Tellus (something, something) 46.
It's viscosity is less effected by colder temperatures.
The price reflects it is a specialty oil.
