MS261 pitch set up

Hi Folks,

I'm in the process of looking for a new bar for my MS261. Length will be 16", and choosen bar is a Cannon Superbar, like on my two MS461s. But, schould I stick to .325", or convert to 3/8"?

Pro would be all 3 bars will use the same replacement tip, and only 1 file set will be needed. My chains are all to be either sharpened or replaced anyway

Con: will have to replace the rim sprocket (have a part number for standard 3/8"?)

Any advices? (my MS261 is a non mtronic model)

It will handle a 3/8 x16 just fine. Keep it sharp. Your only con is a non-issue. 3/8 -7 rims common as dirt...0000-642-1231

Can if you want. I have set up for both sizes for my 261. Quick and easy to swap back and forth to use .325 or 3/8" depending on what I feel is best tool for the task in front of me.

I run 3/8 on my 261, primarily 16" but it'll handle a 20" setup just fine. I do miss how smooth the .325 was.
