Recently i purchased and installed the maxflow air filter kit for my 661

The saw runs great definitely an upgrade in performance.

I did however notice that my piston is starting to show premature signs of scoring and there is a little more carbon buildup around the exhaust. I went from a 50:1 mix down to a 40:1. I use either 93 premium gas or 90 octane rec fuel at.

The 661c has an automatic carburetor adjustment (m-tronic) so i am limited about chaging air to fuel ratio.

Wondering if anybody else has experience with the maxflow filter

Pics of scoring please.

Here is what i did, used the 60 pour green filter, oiled it with Bel Ray foam filter oil. cut the stock HD2 filter to fit, cut out the stock cover to allow more airflow. As you can see the filter is doing its job. My concern is that the mtronic carburetor adjustment is not doing its job, causing the scoring. I did notice a little healthier sound using a 40:1 mix vs. 50:1 mix

Looks fine to me.

You might want to pull the recoil and get the PN off the coil. Yours is old enough that I highly doubt it has the new coil. Rumors have it that the new one tunes richer, but I don't know that to be true.

Okay, how would i go about getting that part number, the guys at the nearest saw shop are untrustworthy around here. Basically on my own with this stuff

Does anyone have a part number?
