I've been running a 575XP with a 20" bar for a few years and love it. I can't remember what year mine is, but it's never given me any trouble.

Nice pics of the 272! What's the main differences between it and the 372XP?

i dont think there are huge differences, air injection and different chassis and carb and stuff but not sure of all the specifics

Yeah, just small stuff....

Other small differences-
Inboard vs outboard clutch
Front vs side chain adjuster
Two channel vs quad port transfer design

I'm sure there are lots of other things I'm forgetting at this hour.

we bought a 371 to replace one of our ageing 272's. we found it to be peakier, narrow power band, revved higher. you had to pay attention. nobody on the crew liked it much. it succumbed to piston damage around the exhaust port and ended up with the parts saws. i suspected that someone straight gassed it but still don't know. i think it was the first year they were on the american market and they likely improved in later years and the 372 model.
