NEW TOY 036 REBUILD

Good evening everyone I just picked up a burn down top end 036 pro so my question is good OE piston and cylinder or Meteor new the price difference between the 2 is 15.00 new is 15.00 more what is the consensus?

one of the best stihls built....worth spending the money on oem but brace yourself gonna be $$$. Figure out why it burned up before you run it with new parts. definatly pressure vac the thing to ck for air leeks.

I can get good used at Chainsawr for 125.00 or new Meteor for 139.00 was also gonna change the crank seals just because but how do I vac test it if the cylinder wont hold compression?

Vac and pressure test has nothing to do with cylinder compression.

Best saw ever built by STIHL is a toss up between the 08S & the 044

A brand new cylinder with a brand new piston and rings won't hold pressure. Your pressure and vac test will check for leaks in the crank seals, carb boot, base gasket, case gasket and even the spark plug.
