I had some 24” thick 42” diameter white oak rounds this year. When they were unloaded and ready to be noodled I grabbed the 7900 with full comp 28” b&c. A picture is worth 1000 words.

Makita. Other than color it’s the same thing.

I know makitas are the same and thats what I thought it was originally, but it seems to be darker than makita blue. Sadly Dolmar is gone and only Makita remains, but in Dolmar colors.

It does look almost green, it may be the lighting.

I believe it was a coil replacement/upgrade, or an emissions passable one for import ie a cat in the muffler and or limited coil, I could be wrong. Making an educated guess off what they did with the 5100/5101/5105 series.

7900 coil is limited to 13,500, 7910 coil is limited to 12,800. Rest is mostly EPA stuff.

I don’t think anything. But the 7910 had some differences.

7900s could be had in a all orange reddish color.

I dont know much about these saws but she runs and starts like a dream. my questions are will this saw last a while if treated well and are parts easily found for this model? this looks,if not exactly like a Dolmar... Im guessing Makita owns them? seems like a very well built saw! hope the price was good!!

Now that... is a set of dawgs!!!!

non of the series is a strato saw. The muffler on the 7910 has some funky snorkel thing in it. The 7910 has a slab sided piston and slightly different port timing. The decomp location moved as well. I’m not the most knowledgeable on the subject...

Well, you know more than me. I thought the 7910 was strato. The only Dolmar I have any experience with is the 6100, it is strato.

None of the bigger saws are. The 6400 series is an open port cylinder, and the 7900 series is a bottom fed closed quad port.

You got a hell of a saw and for a steal of a price. I got the smaller brother to your saw, the DCS6401 and paid I think $290 a few months ago. I’ve done a muffler mod and the saw flat out rips. Strong runner for 64cc.

I might have to buy one of those Smurf stickers myself. Pretty cool.
