19 second cycle time?

I'd lose my mind. You could eat your lunch while the cyl. returns..

Cycle time is greatly overrated. Supposedly my TroyBilt has 17 sec.

1. Very few pieces (unless it is a stringy species) requires a full cycle.
2. While the ram is returning is when I am busy getting rid of the prior split and/or reaching for the next chunk. Almost no idle time at all.
3. Long 'throat' but short wood, i.e., throat for 24" plus but you cut 16"? Install a few 'stroke limiters' so you don't have to manually stop the ram before full retraction and/or wait for it to 'deadhead' for the first 8" of stroke.

I think the cycle time of hyraulic splitters are misleading. They slow down when they hit the wood. Isn't cycle time is measured unloaded?

Cycle times are considered dry cycles, all the way down and back with no wood. of course when you split a piece it usually pops apart, depending on the wood long before full stroke. So what it really refers to is how fast the ram gets to the piece of wood from full retraction.. This of course would vary a bit depending on how long the pieces are cut.
