I know this isn't a chainsaw. But Solo made saws and I mite believe is has something to do with starting back fires.Maybe it is just a weed burnner. If anybody knows, give a reply. This is worn on your back and is pretty light, and is interesting.

We have a regular back pack sprayer out at the farm that looks exactly like that, I don't know if it is Solo, the tank was replaced years ago, will look to see tomorrow. I know ours is at least 35 to 40 yrs old ,it has been sitting in the corner for most of that time, have never had a chance to see if I could make it run again.

Yep it's a Solo Mister for Orchards or weed sprayer as you thought, although i haven't seen one converted to become a flame thrower.

I'm not certain but i think Solo still make misters even today.

I was wrong our sprayer is a Hudson, not a Solo. They must all be built on the same design. That flame thrower thing is cool, giving me ideas if I can get ours to run, one of these years.
