What is the best thing to do now ? Say you have a 350 husky or an old McCulloh, where would you start on the road to recovery ?
I appreciate any and all expert tips and shortcuts if there are any.

signed yours truly,

old stale gas

How long has the old gas been in ther and does it still smell like gas?

Husky 350...Dump the old gas and start by inspecting the fuel line and filter and if it's all good clean the carb and give her some fresh mix and try her out...

old gas

The gas in the old McCulloh has been in there over a year. The Husky probably about 4 to 6 months.

What is the procedure for cleaning the carb ?

For those "short" times I'd just disconnect the fuel line, blow out the old gas from the line, new filter, new gas in tank, shake it up, and pull way. Fresh gas though the carb will clean it out. Squirting mix into the carb to get it to fire, then "on with the choke" will also suck the fresh mix though the carb nicely. A thumb in the carb inlet works fine also...

On the Husly you should have no problem - just dump the tank, refill with fresh mix, and it should start up...
