now here's a question... if you are going to have a couple of different length bars for your saw... would it be a good idea to have a separate sprocket for each bar/chain combo? cause you know that one bar chain combo is gonna get used more than others say like a 20" for normal bucking and a 36" for taking some rare big stuff?

No... not really. I have the stock sprocket sizes on all my saws... just put different bars on them and run 'em.

When ya start puttin' on different sprockets for longer or shorter bars you're just splittin' hairs if ya ask me. Especially when you're only talkin' about 4" in bar chainges...

Are ya reall gonna see the gains? Doubtful...

I received a letter from the "Oregon Engineer" stating that they examined the chain and a faulty drive link was assembled into the chain.

So are they replacing the chain or repairing it?
With the millions of links they make its no wonder a bad one slips through now and then!

Now that you mention it.....

I have had 5 chains snap on me this week......

One of them took out my bar, one of them took out my windshield.

One hit me in the lower right arm...........................I still hurt.........

The other 2 fell off without incident........I was just lucky there......

Engineer, you getting all this?????

I was using my "INTENZ" bar, btw............

My "spotter" was killed, but hey, he was just a "unspecified minority"........

My lawyer is on vacation this week......................

So I am sure we can work through this............................................

Yes, you are correct........................

I am ashamed...................I am dung...Poopy...................................

I think they gave you all that to shut you up.......

Oooops. one of our bad links must have got in your loop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though you run a worn out sprocket............

The other beat up drive links must have only been "half" defective!!!!!!

Sorry.............

You cry "defective"!!!!

They paid you off!!!!

Let it drop, do not gloat..........

I won't let you......

I am usually wrong, so let me have it!!!!

Looks to me like that particular drive link missed the heat treating process somehow. I'm thinking this because the link is totally silver, and it pulled apart rather than cracking and breaking.
I'm sure the worn rim is no help but, it was certainly the fault of the mis-manufactured drive link.
