With 24" bar, DOWN IN VIRGINIA!
It was only 500 miles (total drive) to pick it up. Left at 4:45 am and returned at 3:45 pm. :dizzy:

Also stopped for a short hike in Maryland at Gunpowder Falls State Park.
The park is filled with trees that are 36"-48" 100'+ tall hardwoods.:chainsaw:

The seller was very helpful, saved me another hour drive (each way) by driving north and meeting me at a truck stop.
Checked the saw over nothing broken or missing except a bolt on a spike. It has a dented handlebar and gouged up pull-start cover from what ever dented the bar. Checked compression 150psi. Put the plug back in and started up in 2 pulls revved and idled great and C.B. functioned properly. Gave him the pre-agreed on $375. (he was asking $500.) thanked him and went on my way back north. I'm going to cut some wood with it tomorrow after I clean it up and sharpen the chain.
By the way he had it listed as a STHIL 066 misspelled like so many others :greenchainsaw: .................454

500 milles? Must have really wanted it huh? Why didn't you just have him ship it?

Congrats on the saw. Tell us what you think when you get a chance to run it.

Looks good except the lawn mower pull start handle. Nothing like a road trip.

The guy told me he replaced the rope three times. I pointed out the decomp valve to him, he said he never used it. I'll work on the small details once I'm sure it's running 100%.

The saw seems to run fine, although it had been sitting for some time. I dumped the gas although it didn't smell stale.:dizzy:
The air/pre filter was very dirty, got it all cleaned up and drying and ordered a new one.

I found the saw on Craigslist, I wasn't going to chance sending a money order or paypal.
If it was on EBAY I would of sent Paypal and had it shipped. There is zero buyer protection on CL, plus I don't like to wait.............454

I agree there....better send it to me....I am used to the 088 Magnum, this one would be a great addition.......

Keep us posted.
You know, I really WANTED an 088, 3120xp, or a 2095 Jred.
They are way out of my price range rite now. I'm hoping the 066 can fill my WANT for CC's for a few days...................454

Notice I said want, I don't have a need for any of them, they are just so damn cool I gotta have'em.:hmm3grin2orange:

Unless you have a mill or have arms the size of most guy's legs you'll get more use out of that 066 than an 088 IMO.

I have a 395xp that I love. It's my main saw and I use it for almost everything.
I also have a 3120, but I don't use it much at all. It's amazing how much bigger the next size up is when going from 395's to 3120's or 066's to 088's.

It was only 500 miles (total drive) to pick it up.

I must say you win the distance award!
I drove through a blizzard to get my 039 off of CL. I had to chain up the truck and drive over the mountain @ 40MPH top speed. I don't know if y'all heard about the storm we had out here or not? I am going to try cutting with it tomorrow, I've only tuned the H-L-idle and drilled out the muffler so far. Congrats on your new toy!
Wow, that is a steal...nice job. You'd pay that much for a non running complete parts saw on ebay.

I can't seem to find any good saw deals on craiglist in my neighborhood.

Clean it up and post another pic. I bet it will be VERY pretty. Congrats! For that price and condition, I probably would have done some driving too...especially with the low gas prices these days.

"scored" 066

I was ready to feel bad for you when your post said "scored" a 066,then I read the post and now I'm jealous!!!,nice saw!!

UPDATE: ***I need a new choke/stop switch lever***
I got the saw all cleaned up and touched up the black highlights. It was very dirty. When I had the covers off I found a few broken fins on the cylinder and the choke-throttle interlock broken. I'm pretty sure the top cover was replaced because it is less faded then the air filter cover. Probably got smashed and broke the fins. After cleaning and sharpening I filled the gas and oil. Made a few test cuts in a 24 inch oak wheel and was amazed at the power. It cuts better than I expected.

The saw runs and oils great and kicks :censored: a$$!!!:jawdrop:

Here's a few pics of it all cleaned up...........454:cheers:
