Here are a couple of small Ideas, that makes
refilling pre-mix & Bar oil less messy. I bought one of those NO-SPILL
gas cans, have put over 10 gallons of pre-mix through it and
I really like it, put the nozzle in the tank, push the button, let off
and your refilled, with out spilling fuel all over the saw. When
milling it can be harder to refill the bar oil. I was going to get one
of those quart gear oil jugs with the hose, didn't want to be refilling
the quart jug all the time and its lid would not fit my gallon bar oil jugs.
Was at the store and seen this thing with adapters to fit all sizes
of the plastic gas cans, I thought I could pour a full jug of bar oil
in a gallon gas can, But didn't need the adapters, it fit on the
bar oil jug. The other idea is in the pic I think you will see it.

I frogot to tell the oil jug, has a twist on and off, shut off

I'm pretty comfortable with my mix cans, have one of those spouts you push in and only then lets fuel out, no mess. However, still putting bar oil in my saws strait from a gallon jug, and when the saw in in my csm, what a pain. It's OK when there is zero wind and I aim right, but since I have to hold the jug a good 5 inches from the hole, even a little breeze and I get some where it ain't supposed to be. I like that long spout idea on the gallon oil jug. Where did you get it, and how much did it cost, and will they mail order something like that?

Ive been trying to figure out a way to rig up a clear hose 5/8 or 3/4 to the lid of one of those gallon jugs to use for filling up the oil tank on my saws. Like woodshop filling in the wind is almost always a messy situation.

working at home, you can get away with a lot of that (chemicals in diff jugs)
don't try that working out in public, unless the alternate jugs are correctly and clearly marked. mixed gas requires 2 tags, one for the gas and one for the mixing oil.
hauling anymore than 5 gallons of gasoline requires hazardous material lading sheet in the truck at all times. dot has requirements about where they are placed inside it too. takes a lot more than 5 gallons to require an external vehicle placard and haz mat endorsement, thankfully.

Sta-lube has a pump that goes on their gallon jugs of 90wt oil, and with your help I just decided to transfer my bar oil over to the used 90wt jug and use this pump (it has a clear hose) for easier saw filling.

I usually use a funnel and sometimes miss judge when to stop pouring.:bang:

I use one of those Blitz ventless cans for the bar oil. Works real nice.

CaseyForrest, Thats what I bought this for, but it fit on the
bar oil jug.

No one has said any thing about the turn buckle, is this
a old idea? that I have missed.

In Canada I have a thing called a flow and go, looks like a small gas pump handle, you pump it and it pumps or siphons, works great, for the saw, atv or lawnmower, no mess. Best of all it works to empty the toilet in the cabin for winterizing, no mess:D

I didnt even look at the pic when I posted. Thats a swell idea Gary. I may copy that!!!

It would be better to have a turn buckle with a hook on
each end, but I had one with a hook one end, eye on th other
end. If you have a buckle, like mine and use a tie strap,
leave the loop in the tie strap long, then when you want
to take it off, cut the tie at the lock, then you can reuse
it again. I have used that tie strap 4 times now. Didn't
think the first time I used it. See pic below

P.S. Casey I feel kind of silly, I thought you where talking about the turn buckle
looked at the post again, you where takling about the oil jug (right)
