.013 squish is way too tight. You want closer to .020 to be safe and will still have good compression. A stock .5mm gasket will get you into a mid .030-ish range or you could use thinner material and make a gasket yourself. Sealant alone shouldn't be relied on for much thickness unless your right on the edge at .017~.018 and just need a thou or two.
And the rings do have an 'up' and a 'down' to accommodate the pin in the ring groove if you haven't learned that yet. Easy to break em if attempting to force em the wrong way.
