Starting a 044bb build today. I have 2 very nice 046 cylinders. One says Stihl BR on it and it's very dark grey in color. One says Stihl Mahle on it. The ports are a lot better shaped on this one. My question is which one is the better cylinder to use. Again both are very nice inside.

you have a 044 12mm case and crank ?

get hold of Definative Dave to get a 3/16 muff spacer

they are a fun build !

Ya I have a 12mm case and crank. As well as a 10mm case and crank. I know I have to use the 12mm crank. Is it possible to put the 12mm crank in the 10mm case. It's not somthing I have to do its just that my 10mm case is a lot nicer and cleaner than the 12mm case. Also, do I use the 44 or the 46 muffler? I heard their the same but when sitting on my bench on the gasket surface the 46 muff is a different depth from the 44 muff.

U need the 12 mm case and 12 mm crank the 046 muff sits further out so u need a spacer I powder cases if u wanna go that route
