Stihl 362 is toast

I was using my old stihl 362 today. It is around 12 years old and has been through heavy usage. I use it as my backup saw.
Anyways, I put some fresh gas in it, and was cutting for about 20 minutes, it started making a rattling noise for a few seconds, then quit running and locked up.
The cord doesn't even pull.

Sounds like symptoms of a ruined piston?

Could be a bolt came loose and caught in the fly wheel. Check that & the clutch before pulling the cyl..

It would have taken you longer to write this whole post out than to have used that time to unscrew a few t27’s, removed the muffler and looked!

Yeah, if the piston isn't scored check the clutch. The drum bearing comes apart and the drum can get sideways and cause a lot of trouble. Had a MS500I come in ruined from that of all things.

My MS 362 was purchased in 2013.

I have had my 362 since 2012 and they were out a couple years before I got mine.

Earlier versions also had an issue with the piston skirt design and they would fatigue crack and loose part of the skirt.
Later versions had updated design with different shape and mass in that area.
