Thought I'd try a loop of stihl RM chain after hearing so much good about it for my husky 346 xp , first dealer told me 34.95 second told me he doesn't stock it but it would be around 25.00 a loop , I'm a little disappointed as I never tried stihl chain but these prices are crazy !!! I could get almost 3 carltons for 35.00 .

What size bar? Ebay is your best bet for cheap chain. Or post in the classifieds here and see if someone can get you a couple loops

Right now a loop of RS full chisel in 3/8ths .050 with 72 DL is $29.99 dollars at my local Stihl dealer / True Value store. Costly indeed!

Last one I bought (last fall) was around $26 I have switched to Oregon for that reason 3/8" .050 72dl I can get for $18 their loss. I prefer Stihl but....

The local Amish tribe here has a Stihl dealer. All of the locals buy their chain from him. If you buy 10 loops at a time, they sell them for 10.00 a loop for the 72 drive links, 60 drive links are the same price.

My local Amish dolmar dealer is a one armed four fingered nut... he's a good Guy!

Sounds like someone could make a buck or two as a middleman.

Dealer just priced a single 36" full comp .404 RS chain to me for $59.99!!!! I don't know if that is fair, but I am going to shop for something cheaper. Any suggestions appreciated.

try some carlton 404 if you can find it over there think you will like it
not quite as good as stihl but it holds an edge better than oregon

Not apples to apples, but I get a 16" .325 RM for 16.00 w/o tax here.

The only Stihl dealer here that runs an A+ shop Hellebuyck's,

always has a deal. Buy one chain get one half off.

I figure it's worth asking at a lot of places.

I just got 4 special order Rm .325 64dl for $73 out the door.
