On the other hand, Stihl has the best resale bar none.
In 2006 I bought a new MS460 for $735. Then over one year
later I sold it for $750 + shipping. That was for the power
head only. If you have a Stihl dealer that will sell under MSRP
and you keep the saw looking nice. You can use it for a year or so
then sell it on ebay for + or - $50. I'm just talking the Stihls pro
saw line, I don't watch the home owner saws. Lots of people
on ebay will give new price for a nice looking used Stihl.
Heck price a few new Stihl saw parts at your dealer then
find the parts on ebay. People are giving more for parts on ebay
than they can go to a dealer and buy them. Not saying all parts
are this way but stuff like oil and gas caps, fuel lines.

Below are Stihl sale prices from 2006

660 $879
066 $849
460 $735
361 $559
Bar oil 1 gal. $5.49
Stihl chain 2 or more
16" $12 ea.
24" $16 ea
36" $23 ea

If you would have bought NIB MS460 in 2006
and sell it NIB this year. I don't think you could have made
as much money in CD at bank. I have a LNIB MS660
I bought in Oct 2006 and LNIB MS440 I have been setting on.
In couple more years they will go on ebay
I do the same thing with guns, buy the best quality product
you can afford, keep it in good condition. In a couple years you
can get your money back or even make a little money on it.
