It is very very difficult to find ignition breaker points that are servicable today.Echlin and Bluestreak if you can find them or NOS.Over the course of my life time I have filed and re gapped hundreds of point sets.My remote cottage has a 1929 Kohler generator the point set for the magneto has been obsolete for many years I file and set the points good for another 500 or so hours. For a quick clean I use emery cloth spray contacts with brake cleaner then pull a business card threw. I have probably done these points a dozen times.

I agree with cleaning points rather then replacing. Points on magneto ignition, unlike old car ignitions, switch very little current and there is no sparking to erode the points surface. Only reason to replace is if the rubbing block gets so worn, proper gapping can't be achieved.

Not any good reason to file old worn out points when a piece of eq is on the work bench and new points are readily available at a reasonable price. (unless it's your Brother In Laws Equipment)
I try to reduce the chances of HAVING to remove a flywheel as much as possible.
Even though I have all kinds of pullers for such, removing a flywheel several times when working on a piece of eq of any kind is not a good thing. (murphy's law is lurking in the background) Only time I file points now days is to get the eq to the house or to keep from immediately having to walk a long distance.
Filing old points is in the same category as peeing into the wind.

New points replacement for EZ for less than $10.
