Hello again Brush Ape.
Have a like-ski.
Hahahahahahaha.
Umm - the spark happens in advance of the piston reaching TDC. Care to explain how this violates the laws of physics?Glad youze guys got that all figured out.
One thing that bothers me is the term advance timing.
Unless someone has figure out a way to strap Miss Cleo onto one of them modules it is against all laws of physics to have an action before it happens.
What they do is retard the timing and when advance is needed the timing is retarded less all the way up to 1;1.
Any questions class?

Well since there is no way to be rid of you, at least be useful. Get over in the Christmas giving thread and give away some of those saw parts you've been hoarding.
Blasphemy! There's no such thing!Too much pie?
OK can I just bring them over? Set up the chess board.
Look out! He may play the Naidorf variation of the Sicilian!!Oh yeah, I play everyday.
I'm really not very good anymore. The Lymes took something from me.

Of course it assumes that the piston actually will reach TDC after the spark happens, and maybe it won't - I dunno, I never ran a Sachs.
Lol - I know exactly how the system works. The magnets and coil are typically placed so that the spark happens a certain number of degrees before TDC. Therefore if the spark happens when the magnets pass the coil it will happen before TDC, no? This is wizardry?OK MR. Wizard,
let us make some elementary assumptions,
1. we are talking chainsaws
2. the current is generated by rotating magnets
3. the magnets don't move (centrafugally they are static and molded into the casting)
4. the flywheel is mounted to the crankshaft
5. saws don't have onboard current storage (battery) OK some old macs did
6 an event can not happen before it happens.
Sure with some fancy programming and an onboard power supply you could conceivably make a spark happen before the event of the magnets passing the pick-up.
I don't see it happening.
Go back and read my post again, you can NOT have an event before it happens.
Clear as mud?
The sentence is obviously not complete unless one is told in comparison to what. You could assume it means it gets advanced relative to the present time, but you would need flux capacitors for that. This is just a spinning magnet on a crankshaft.Just terminology, but when people say "it advances the timing"
