60 degrees today, so got some brush burned, and cut down an old locust behind the garage
the old tree used to have a "Y" about 15 ft up, but one half broke off long before I got there...so used the skidloader to push from the back side...wasn't gonna wedge...was a PITA, but better than dropping it on the fence
no I didn't get a pic of the tree... :bang:
anyway...was able to get the old boys out for some cutting and tuning in the wood
the old tree had several knot holes starting at 4 ft up...the kind you see squirrels in...so I'm glad she came down as well as she did
even ended up with a knot-hole planter for the Mrs.
other than more firewood, the real accomplishment for the day was the creation of a noodling stump
I'm sure others have done the same, but this solved a "don't hit the screws in the sawbuck" problem for me
all in all a good day...brush got burned, tree fell without incident, the old men got their wood tune and cut well, and I have a better noodling setup...though there was just a little mud
Cheers!
