5000' ASL at the house.

6000'+ ASL where I do most of my cutting.

The high elevation results in a HUGE loss in power - 3% for every 1000' of elevation gain. Makes it necessary to run a 60cc limbing saw and 80cc+ for your falling and bucking saw.

7,000 ft here. Many of my saws get minor muffler mods to try to recoup some of the performance lost. Waste of time on old saws, though.

6800' ASL at the house.

7500' -8500' ASL where I do most of my cutting.

The high elevation results in a HUGE loss in power for the operator as well! Actually you do get used to it - somewhat.

Way up there

Most of my cutting is done 50-100'. If I head up on the mountain I can get all the way up to 750' which I try to avoid as it causes nose bleeds..

Its over 9000 where I cut.

Finally got the GPS to my cutting spots... I was assuming they were closer to 8,000.

Thats why my 361 wears a 16" bar. And my 375xp is working good to pull a 24" bar full comp.

Makes my little 353 about worthless.

I live at 2500 ft which is why it gets so cold here! The highest I cut at is probably 3000 ft and I cut at sea level. That's where I cut the petrified kiawe, when combined with the lava rock and dust it becomes a dirty job.

About 20' ASL, In the PNW Good cool dense air... I run a 42" on my 026, just kidin'. Its nice here though, no lack of power from air.

0, well.... 10?

5300' at the house. About 8000-9000' where I cut wood. I must have gotten one of those special unadvertised hot-rodded 361's from Stihl because it pulls a 25" bar just fine. Boy did I get lucky because at that elevation, I "regular" 361 probably wouldn't turn that chain.:dizzy:

Actually, the 361 doesn't get used much since I got an 034 for $36. I guess I'm saving it....for what, I don't know.
