My 2004 7900 starts 041...

So By that logic you’re would be 2001 or 2011?

My guess is 2011. It is in fantastic shape. P&c look untouched almost. Plastics in great shape. Minor scuffing on bottom.

But who knows..... could be an 01 too.

Thanks for the help sir.

One thought... did the make the 7901 in 2001? Or was it just the 7900back in 2001.

They are great saws. The left-side decomp saws are great. I had a couple smurfs which I sold, and I regret that. Still got a new redhead 6400->7900 with the early P/C sitting in a box in the basement, plus the runner redhead 7900 I actually use.

Damned good looking saw. Like the tailgate/workbench/lunch counter cover, too.

This Makita 6401 is a 2006 release and runs today like a bandit, even when it has to pull a 32' bar:

The BBK (Big Bore Kit) gave it a boost. Dang, I really like running this saw.:)

Nice!!
I assume you put a bigger carb (or more capable rather) on there with the big bore kit?

This 7901 will spend time with Mr. @huskihI eventually. And possibly my never used smurf 6100.

No, the carb is OEM. That did not seem to matter. Here's an even bigger elm that it handled:
