Today at the shop started the day with a 029 that would start and fall on its face, found pin holes in fuel line after pressure testing the fuel line, replaced the fuel line and it was good to go. Next was a 260 that would start, run, but would lean out and take off on its own, pressure tested found a leaking seal on the pto side, went ahead and replaced both seals, ran out well after the seals were replaced. Rebuilt carbs on two MS 250 C's left sitting for a year with old fuel in them, ultra sonic cleaner does a fantastic job of cleaning up crummy carbs. Replaced the fuel lines and primer bulb on a Poulan 2750,replaced the fuel filter and rebuilt the carb, finished the day prepping a cherry, like new 036 for a new piston and cylinder, tore it down, washed it, cleaned it to like new, got ready to go back together with a new oem jug and slug and found we didn't have the base gasket in stock, ordered it. Check compression on a suspect 455, could only get 80 lbs, called owner to let him know he prolly needs to start looking for another saw or take it to the Husky dealer for a rebuild.
Monday morning will start off with a bang, logger brought in a 650 with a bar stud broken off in the case, also needs a flywheel as about half the fins are missing on his.
 
My "new" poly 066. She does not want photographed until she has had a bath and looks pretty. Bench #2 is a 365 for another member here. Bench #3 is a 290 that REALLY needs to go back into one piece. Bench #4 is pretty large. It houses 3 long-term projects : 272, 371K/xp conversion, 359. The front of that bench has the Poulan 2500 which is ready to go.

Just finished a Solo 681 with a 272 Husky piston.

Thinking about going back in for more......it's blowing 235psi so raising the exhaust and transfers a little more is a very good possibility. :msp_thumbup:
 
I scored a Ts460 concrete saw with a burnt P/c... Really wanted to find a 371k....

And then.... And then..... A 2012 372xpw X Torque... Got a smoking deal on it and assumed it needed a p/c.... Starter side crank bearing was wasted. Crank case full of water! Wtf? Seals checked out ok and no lean seizing.... Bought this one to keep....So replaced both bearings and opened her up a bit....

Did you have the crank welded? I hear that's a weak link and would hate to see all that hard work go south.

No......but I warned the owner. He said as long as it makes a few cuts. :laugh:

I just sent him another email.....I would rather see it welded....

Here is one of the 681 cranks that I replaced.
The 681 is one of the saws that I will no longer port.
The crank is definitely the weak link in the saw.
The cranks cant take the power of a stock engine.

- Homelite 550 that's getting a new piston
- three 036's in various states of disrepair that shall become one
- two Homelite 770G's that will become one good one
- Father in law's little Craftsman that needs a fuel line and chain sharpened

I'm hoping Scott will agree to weld the crankshaft. There's a guy in Crossville that could weld up the crack of dawn without warping. :laugh:
