Many sources for used parts... some sponsers on AS, some not. Just go to EBAY, type "stihl" in the search feature, and then look under "stores".
if you want new parts, mostly you'll need to go to a dealer.

not sure yet, just got it and havent had time to look, i know im going to need a side cover and a clutch though.

Awwwwwww ok. Welp if I was you I wouldn't get my hopes up too high about getting new parts from Stihl for that ole geezer. They only made the 042 four years, '76-'80 so that would make it at least 26 years old and not all that many of them were made in four years. Quite a collector item you have there...

Ebay is your best bet for older parts. There's two sponsors here that regularly have Stihl parts. Dean at Washington Hot Saws, and Curt Bailey. I've dealt with both, and I'll deal with them again I'm sure.
