Mission Backpack is a ministry that two of my friends co-manage at my church. Details are here:
http://www.firstbaptistgreenville.com/Missions/Missions Now1101.pdf

In a nutshell, this mission recognizes that free/reduced fee meals program for school children has a serious hole, the weekends. This ministry attempts to fill the weekend void by sending food home with the student.

Now, here's the deal:

1) On behalf of Mission Backpack, I'm donating a new MS460.
2) Brad Snelling has generously agreed to port the saw.
3) The saw will participate in the MS460 build off GTG.
4) The saw will be sold to the highest bidder.
5) You may place your bid by posting to this thread.
6) The saw will be shipped to the high bidder after build off GTG.
7) All bid proceeds will be donated to Mission Backpack as described above.

Good luck to all participants and bidders,

ole joat

We are retracting the bid process, thanks WSC.
We will have a "drawing".
Details forthcoming.
Save up those $10 bills folks.
Thanks for the support.

Addendum 1: 7/1/11 @ 10:15
The high bid at the end of the GTG competition wins the saw.
High bidder will send me the bid money.
The saw will be shipped upon receipt of money.
All money will be donated to Mission Backpack.
I will ask Darin and/or Terry to verify the donation.

Addendum 2: 7/1/11 @ 10:30
To bid, state it in a post to this thread.
Please place the word "Bid" and the dollar amount in the title, ex. Bid $1000.
Please look at previous bids and only place a higher bid.

Addendum 3: 7/1/11 @ 11:00
Brad's dealer has an MS460 w/ 28" bar on the shelf.
Funds transferred to Brad to make the buy.
Thanks for handling this Brad!

Addendum 4: 7/1/11 @ 15:15
No raffle, sorry folks, but I want to keep it simple.
Someone probably wants this saw, so there's a way to get it.
I want to give the resultant $1000+ to this mission.
This makes it fun and draws attention to a worthwhile cause.
Maybe your community needs a Mission Backpack?

Do you want us to just come out in the open forum and name a number? I don't mind just asking.

I just made it a sticky thread, I also used my point to turn the thread letters red but that didn't work but it took my points.

I'm very happy to particpate in something like this. Comradere and fun are what this forum has always meant to me, and what better way to demonstrate that. I'm amazed at some of the generosity we've seen on this forum, and Joat's donation here is another shining example of that.

Very good thing you fellers have going on here. These build offs are bringing some great things to the surface and they are getting the exposure they deserve. I don't even mind losing to a saw built for a good cause. :)

Of course, you woulda lost to a saw built for a bad cause, too.

I've received the money for the saw from Joat. My dealer is giving me a great price of $875 with a 28" B&C. I told him what it was for and he has one on the shelf. I'll pick it up in the morning and post some teaser pics.
