    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Good morning y'all. The saws are piling up on the bench. I'll be glad when I have some time to work on them

Found this at a pawn shop. It looks way more ridiculous in person.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

I have at least 4 hanging in the garage and a couple inside. I think they're all complete, just haven't got to them yet. One of the 025s has a red lever, never have understood the significance of that although I see it mentioned a lot. I never realized how badazz these saws are until I worked...

Those are good caps. A cap just needs to stay tight and seal

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

I'm late weighing in on he flippy caps debate. I've had no problems with them. I bought my 200t and 441 in 2009. I've used the 200t a lot with no issues. I've bought some used saws with flippy caps too. I'm a Stihl guy but I'd like to get a 7910. I had a 6401 and it had a lot more torque than...

I have a small pain brush tied to my oil and gas cans. I also carry a stiff bristled brush. Harbor Freight is great for cheap brushes.

Good afternoon y'all. I'm going to finish cutting and splitting some wood around the yard today.

Assembly Questions For My Stihl 024AV

I have 3 024s. They are my go-to saws so they get heavy use. Never used Loctite and I've never had a faster come loose. I wouldn't use any sealer either. This is a well designed saw that has stood the test of time.

    Top Handle climbing saw suggestions

I worked for a tree company. Our arborist prefers the Stihl 192 over the 201. He likes its lighter weight and it has plenty of power.

    Need another saw and advice

I'd have bought a 241 if they were available in the U.S. I really like my old 024s. They're my go-to saws. I'm trying to find some old 034 or 036 saws, or even 360 or 361s as long as they don't have electronic carberation

Stihl Bar Oil- Is it really worth the price?

I worked with a climber that insisted on using his own saws. All Stihl commercial grade. He was 50 years old and had been doing this from the time he was a young man. He used no-name bar oil. He said he'd never experienced any kind of wear that would justify expensive bar oil, even though he was...

Stihl Bar Oil- Is it really worth the price?

I buy the Atwoods house brand for $7.50. Check all your farm and ranch stores, you may find something cheaper than Stihl or Husqvarna.

Do i go with .325 Narrow Kerf or 3/8LP?

The 024 uses a 3003 series bar. There's no 3003 bar with a Picco sprocket that I'm aware of. The super common 3/8 Picco has a smaller mount,, the 3005 series.
