    Choosing the correct GPM valve

For sure, I've never had one with auto-return, but always wanted one. I'm pretty sure the one I ordered has auto-return. It says "Pressure-release operated detent on return stroke with spool in, spring center on extend with spool out." Which I took for technical lingo for "auto-return." Do you...

    Choosing the correct GPM valve

Need to replace the valve on my log splitter, but I'm having a hard time choosing the correct GPM valve. How much does the GPM matter? Current valve is a "Energy Manufacturing 20038" but I can't find what GPM it's rated at. If it's a 25 gpm valve, and I go with a 30 GPM, will it matter...

Which Limbing saw with good anti-vibe?

Thanks. Has Echo improved their game since 15 years ago? Seems like they were pretty questionable back then.

Which Limbing saw with good anti-vibe?

I need to pick a new limbing saw, but the market has changed so much since I last had to buy one. On todays market, which smaller saw would you pick that has good anti-vibe? My last one was a husqvarna, and loved it. But have the smaller stihl saws made any improvements over the past 15 years...

Is there a trick to burning black locust?

I scored a truckload of black locust 3 years ago for the first time, which I split and stacked underneath tin during those 3 years. Now, after all that time, I'm finally getting to burn it. Problem is, it won't burn! If I lay a couple pieces on a nice bed of red hot coals, for the first couple...

Want to Buy No longer searching

Looking for a decent stihl 310 (or 311). Thought I would see if anybody had one they wanted to cut loose. Money is tight right now, so I'm hoping to keep my budget at $300 or under for this. PHO is ok.

    Anybody burn hackberry

I wouldn't turn it down. burning wise, I would rate it around walnut, cherry, and elm. Not bad at all, but not oak either. All the forest grown hackberries I've split, split very easily. Yard trees were a bit stringy and somewhat harder to split though for some reason. It splits almost...

    Flipped the tractor.

Sounds like Gologit has never been around a farm. Many farmers and farmkids have gotten killed over the years flipping their tractor, even with the big tractors. But an arrogant fool like you wouldn't know that. Philip Wheelock has posted a very good reminder to be careful operating a tractor...

    Husqvarna 235 carb problems

Anyone else had to deal wit a choke that won't stay out?

    Husqvarna 235 carb problems

I picked up a 2011 husqvarna 235 xtorq recently with carb issues. Its very difficult to start, and will not stay running, nor will it rev up. The first problem is the darn choke won't stay out! This makes the saw extremely difficult to start when your holding the choke out with one hand and...

Here's something you don't see everyday.....

You have to eliminate the honeysuckle from your woods, otherwise it will completely take over. Unmanaged, your woods will be nothing but honeysuckle in 100 years. Around here when it gets bad, foresters will douse the whole woods with herbicide and practically nuke the place. Otherwise they...

Heeeeeeyy! My Cedar is WORTH something!

People who smoke with wood are willing to pay for cedar. Personally I'd rather burn the tree in place than make firewood from it. I think Cedar has more limbs than any other tree, making it a huge pain to limb. Its a weed tree here - I don't want it!

    Marketing ideas for Tulip Poplar?

I sell mixed hardwood for $50 delivered per 1/4 cord, and there's no poplar in it. I have straight tulip-poplar for $45 delivered per 1/4 cord. Some people buy the poplar because they are just recreational burners and just want something cheap that burns well. I have no problem selling it...

    American Elm?

Looks like Red Elm/Slippery elm. Could possibly be siberian elm, but I've never seen one in real life before. Definitely NOT american elm though.
