How much does your dealer charge to repair a chain?

Friend of mine brought me his 029 that he pinched in a cut. He very slightly bent two drive links, and I didn't have any .325 .050 presets, so I took it to the local Stihl dealer. Went back to get it and was told it wasn't worth fixing. This is a new RSC been sharpened maybe twice. They said...

Anybody ever see a Jobu? I need Saw Troll!

I bought a bunch of saws the other day and this was in the bunch. I know nothing about it and Acres site doesn't have much either. 60 cc's, seems well built and it's not that heavy. Hasn't run for a long time. I can remember the Remington dealers around here started selling these when...

    Early christmas presents for me....

So I been looking for an 038 mag for a long time. Every time a decent one came up it was too expensive or I didn't have any money, period. Anyway, a while back, Jockeydeuce, (Rob) hooked this one at a yard sale and let me have it for a good price. It's definitely a work saw, not a pretty...

    Small partner/jred clones

I was just reading about certain j reds and partners being the same models....I have a 525 jred somewhere, (can't find it right now to look at it). What models, if any,are the same as a 525 ? I'm wondering about my 500 partner and 5000plus, if anything like plastic or handles etc will...

Is this jug worn out or what?

It's very smooth inside, no scoring at all, but it looks like the plating is worn through? Or what am I seeing? The dark parts wont come off. I hope these pics are good enough. It's off a 970 pioneer if that makes any difference.

How can I cut down the draft on my stove..

I have an Osburn 4100 airtight woodstove which heats my whole house. Nice little stove, made in Quebec. My problem is this. I live in eastern canada, in one of the windiest places in north america. 70 mph winds are not uncommon here in the winter, and the overall average would probably be...

Why does my 5000 plus like to be held?

Bought a pioneer/partner 5000 plus little while ago. What a hot rod....I love it. Had it noodling some oak and some poplar today, man this little saw rips! I know what everyone has been talking about all these years. Anyway, as the title says, it needs to be held. If you carry it around it...

    seafoam

Just thought I'd share my thoughts on seafoam with you....First off, I've never been a fan of the 'tune up in a can ' BS, but this stuff really seems to work!!! Never even heard of seafoam till I came here, so I thought I'd try some. Wow. Everything I use it in seems to work better after a...

    Ultrasonic carb cleaner......

can anyone recommend a good one , not too big or expensive, to do a few carbs a year in ? I'm a little leery of ebay, mainly because you can't really tell how big they are inside. I've seen some that are made for cleaning jewelery that are really small. I need one from someone who will ship...

    Solo 654 carb prob

Got this 654 for cheap. Full of stale gas, cleaned it out, took carb apart and cleaned it, blew it out etc, got the thing running.{sort of} The problem is it runs like crap, sometimes it idles, sometimes it wont. Sometimes it revs good, sometimes it just bogs. Biggest thing is that its blowing...

    Here's a tool thread

Ok guys, here's my problem. Like most of you, i'm sure, I have a bunch of parts saws around. How do I test a coil to see if they are still good ? Does it matter what kind of saw it came from, or are there some tests that will work for any coil ? I'm pretty mechanically minded, but I know nothing...
