well I was disappointed to say the least. the pin didn't move and the cylinder just shows marks from the bearing pins on the intake port.. Mark is being gracious and helping me out.

I pressed the oem bearings in and they where firmly in, and I used the oem pin like you all told me to. everything was a tight press fit. I used redkote and followed the instructions. I guess I will dig out the seams and JB weld and redo the redkote. I lucked out and didn't eat the cylinder...

Well the PM800 rebuild ran for about 3 mins and then locked up. (It was rich and I was cutting some old pine, not pushing it at all.) pulled it apart finally the piston had granaded red barn piston oem bearings and pin. cylinder is savable thank god. (two dings from bearings in the bottom of...

They are the knock offs. I will see if they hold up better than your experience. If it works then I will spring for a real one.

I'll dig in the tank a little more and see what else is in there. it is looking like I will need a new one with the missing bits. Just looked at the cap and I can see where something should screw into it but nothing else in the tank.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

PM800 question, I found a black duckbill in my fuel tank (it is disassembled for a full rebuild) Where does it go? on the bottom of the fuel cap? How is it held in? the retaining assy is missing on this saw and I am guessing that is what retains the Duckbill in place?. looked at the IPB and no...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I just pulled it and the rear plate was loose, The gasket pliable , I cleaned and inspected and used a thin thin wipe of sealant on both sides (gas safe type) and have a nice bow in the spring steel plate. I think it will seal up ok. Just another reason to pressure test. and I appreciate all...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I watched the vid. I had a suburban load of saws years ago, quite a few went to folks here, and I rebuilt many and either sold and passed them one to new owners or kept them. Do you plan on selling parts?

    McCulloch Chain Saws

thanks for the help, I haven't worked on this one before, it was given to me by a dear friend who has passed. I finally dug it out and am working on it. (been sitting for 10 years.) the saw was low hours when it seized (his son was using it) so it is in good shape otherwise. I have most of the...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I am working on a Promac 800 that had a bad piston, (was able to clean up the cylinder ok) One thing I noticed is that there was quite a bit of chain oil in the crankcase when I took it apart. I know the oiler is connected to the hole in the bottom of the clamshell, is this an issue I should...

tools needed to tune earthquake chainsaw

Someone in the thread suggested several times to make one from a piece of car brake line just smack one side with a hammer and then stuff it on. you can bend the other end for a handle.
